VINOMAGNA-Bespoke-Wine-Cellar

This beautiful luxury wine cellar sits perfectly at home within a chalet in the ski mountains of Verbier, Switzerland. The design direction was based on a dark smokey oak timber finish. This was inspired by our clients love for our Bespoke Home Wine Cellar project he visited in London.

Smokey deep grained timber lit with 5000k daylight led lighting has become a winning chose of design combination for many of our clients.

The addition of marble backdrops behind the bottles adds further to the luxury wine cellar theme.

The absence of 90° adjoining structural walls behind the cabinetry set the complexity of achieving design symmetry without reducing the size of the space. The widest wall in the space was selected as the central focal point of the display. It was also the deepest part of the cabinetry in which the overhead coolers could be concealed. This was also the furthest wall from the entering doors making it the most sensible area to accommodate the deep storage required for wine cases.

Oak veneer Joinery package

The dark Oak veneer is pressed and lacquered onto moisture resistant board that will ensure the longevity of the woodwork. Natural untreated wood, while aesthetically pleasing, will deteriorate in a cold damp wine cellar environment. The Structural timber walls supporting the heavy pull out wine case shelves are finished in a ply core for strength.

Horizontal bottle storage

Note, the horizontal champagne bottles on brushed steel rods featured on the left and right walls of the main centre display. Behind the bottles sits a honed finished marble lit with vertical LEDs. The vertical LEDs ensure the entire slab is illuminated from floor to ceiling to eliminate dark spots.

Thick tension tested brushed steel rods ensure the heavy champagne bottles do not sag.

Led lighting

Every area of this luxury wine cellar display is illuminated with 5000k waterproof lighting.

The presence of lighting is key to every Wine Display so we use plenty of it.

The absence of lighting in all areas will leave black spots throughout the Wine Room.

The lighting, however, must be controllable with a dimming system so it can be tuned to create the right balance. Different themes should be used from time to time and not left on continually. Long term, the indirect lighting can be left on at a dimmed level. Undershelf lighting focused directly on the bottles, should be used at a low level and only when required.

Walk-in Wine Rooms

Walk-in Wine Rooms have become an expected feature to be found in modern luxury homes.

Here at Vinomagna, we have found a year on year rise in walk-in wine room designs in luxury home settings. This luxury wine cellar design would typically start at £99,900+vat to deliver in the UK. This cost is for the complete fit-out of the space including all dry lining, climate control systems, oak joinery with metalwork inlays, lighting, marble and custom concealed hinge doors.

Modern Wine Wall

A built in temperature controlled modern wine wall at only 30 cm internal depth!! Floating horizontal wine bottles sit on anodized brass effect aluminium pegs.  Beautiful cracked ice effect back lit onyx wall powered by 1000 watt of Warm LED.

This beautiful modern wine display sits as as a flush feature wall in our clients games room.  A full floor to ceiling temperature controlled wine display within a depth of only 30 cm. The challenge arose from having limited full height walls being a loft space. The entrance wall behind the door was the perfect location yet extremely restricted in depth. Therefore, the original entrance door position was adjusted to accommodate. At only 30cm deep, this is our slimmest profile design project delivered to this luxurious Surrey mansion home.

Concealed Wine Refrigeration Cooling System

The clients request for a floor to ceiling wine display presented the immediate challenge of where to position the mechanical cooling system.

In most cases, the recirculated cooled air supply distributes from the overhead bulkhead via slim line evaporators behind grilles.

This would require an overhead bulkhead of approx 40cm height which we simply did not have to work with.

We also had very little depth behind the games room, so the challenge began for our engineering design team.

The final decision was made to build a ducted concealed cooling system that sits nearby in the loft eves area.

This cooling system would then connect to the wine display via insulated solid spiral duct work running behind the display.

The duct work carries cooled air that is recirculated within the display.

If you look closely at the image above you will note the slim profile black horizontal grille.

The grille is frame-less, giving a more sleek flush fit up against the gloss cheek internal wall.

The finishes

This sleek modern wine wall was designed to integrate with the proposed space design theme by the award wining Rachel Winham Interior design.

High gloss materials mixed among satin finishes and a sophisticated deep blue toned faux leather flow throughout the games room.

The integration of the blue faux leather panels surrounding the display tie in the rest of the games room perfectly.

Brass details include door trims, handles and the show piece wine pegs in a custom brass effect finish.

Due to the nature of brass, aging and changing color, all the brass finishes have been treated with a protective matt lacquer.

Anodized aluminum was selected as the material of choice for the wine pegs.

They will be more durable over time sat within the cold damp wine wall environment.

The rear wall material is a classic onyx hybrid material with pre-drilled holes for the wine peg support system.

The wine pegs screw directly into a counter weight support structure not the onyx.

Led lighting

1000 watts of perfectly positioned LED lighting to illuminate the onyx back walls leaving no dark spotting.

Getting the rear lighting right takes experience and an understanding of the placement and volume of LED's to use

For wine preservation, Its extremely important to intermittently use the lighting under dimmed setting control.

Bright display lighting left on for long periods will cause wine deterioration.
